Welcome to the Sparkman High School Band Website, home of the Marching Senators. Sparkman High School is located in Harvest, Alabama just outside the city of Huntsville. The mission of the Sparkman High School Band is to foster character development in students using music through performance as the tool to build honorable and productive citizens.
We are very fortunate to have an opportunity to rehearse on a real auditorium stage prior to our MPA event in March. James Clemens HS has allowed us to come rehearse and perform using their facility tomorrow night and we would like to invite everyone to come out and hear our bands perform.
On Saturday, March 8th, the Sparkman Indoor Percussion Ensemble will travel to Spring Hill Middle School in Spring Hill, TN for the Spring Hill Indoor Percussion Competition hosted by Music City Mystique.
Last semester all marching band wind players were administered a marching evaluation test to qualify for the 2014 Competition Band Season. Given the extra time away from school I now have this information available for the students to review.
This Friday the Sparkman High School Wind Ensemble will perform at the 2014 MPA event in the Decatur High School Auditorium at 3:30 p.m. Despite the early performance time, we would love to see as many people attend as possible.
THE MPA SCHEDULE IS NOW UPDATED TO DUE TO THE EARLY RELEASE OF SCHOOL ON FRIDAY.
Last weekend the Sparkman High School Band hosted the 2014 District One All-State Band auditions. Students and parents did an outstanding job hosting this event and on behalf of the directors in our district I would like to thank all that volunteered their time!!!
Congratulations to the students that auditioned for All-State Band this past weekend. For the fourth consecutive year in a row, Sparkman Band had more students selected for All-State and Honor band than any other band in our district. 13 Sparkman students were selected for all-state, 7 alternates and 28 students selected for the District 1 honor band. We are very proud of the hard work these students displayed in preparing for this event.
On Saturday, February 22nd, the Sparkman Indoor Percussion Ensemble will be competing at Hoover High School in Hoover, Alabama.
The Sparkman Drumline and Winter Guard will host our first annual Car Show on March 29, 2014 at Sparkman High School. We need your help getting the word out and invite as many people as possible for this event.
